Just broke ground this summer. Coming to Downtown Austin 2026!
I recall living in Central East Austin in the early 2000s and thinking the Frost Tower was huge. Austin’s ever changing skyline is getting a new addition! The soon-to-be tallest tower in Texas has broken ground here in Austin as of June. The Waterline previously referred to as 98 Red River will sit 74-stories high and reaches its maximum height of 1,022 feet. Waterline will be roughly twice as tall as the Frost Bank Tower in height and over twice the amount of stories.
Once complete the building will feature 352 luxury apartment homes, 700,000 square feet of office space, 24,000 square feet of ground-level retail space, and a 251-room hotel. It will be 1,022 feet tall and sit on a 3.3-acres at the intersection of Waller Creek and Lady Bird Lake. Completion estimated for 2026, the tower will become the tallest in Texas.
Personal residences will occupy the top 33 stories. Those residents will have access to two pools, a fitness center and several shared areas, including a lounge and dining area. As part of the project, developers will add two new pedestrian bridges over Waller Creek and three additional access points to the Waterloo Greenway.
Along with the tower’s design complimenting Waller Creeks improvements, the developers have announced a $1 million donation to the Waterloo Greenway!
