Two Austin Originals joining forces to open a new concept on Brodie Lane in Sunset Valley

Slab BBQ has been doing some moving and shaking in South Austin this year. They moved into the shuttered space previously held by Lewboski’s Grill in Westgate lanes, earlier this year. Now they are teaming up with another Austin original - Nomadic Beerworks for a new concept/location in Sunset Valley. This new collaboration will be a true destination brewery and dining experience.

The new destination in Sunset Valley will be totally unique from their other restaurants; by joining forces with Nomadic Beerworks, another true innovator in the craft beer space, the two will bring their unique styles in BBQ and Beverage together, to create a one-of-a-kind experience, nodding to that old-school, character-filled Austin vibe that will be worth the trip for both locals and tourists. With an expansive family-friendly and pet-friendly outdoor space, everyone is welcome to come, relax and enjoy.

“We all got together because we wanted to create a community space that would be inviting, inclusive and collaborative. We also want there to be an element of surprise when people show up. It’s our hope it will be a fresh experience for both our regular patrons, but also for Austin newcomers and tourists” said Dan Tyranski, Co-Founder of Nomadic Beerworks.
The Nomadic Beerworks team are also leaders in the craft beer space in Austin. The Founders Dan and Bryce Tyranski developed the business concept while traveling the world abroad. Their constant curiosity for new flavors and brewing techniques led them to open the doors to their first tap room off South Congress in 2019. Since then, they’ve been experimenting with different ingredients to make their unique brew combinations and will be applying this approach to a new mixed beverage menu that will launch with their new location. Cocktails will include spirits distilled from a local roster of Central Texas craft spirit makers to celebrate local talent and bring the community a totally unique cocktail menu.
“We are starting a cocktail program because we wanted to apply our flavor discovery approach to a fresh new category of beverage, at the same time, showcasing more local distilleries who play a big part in our community”, says Bryce Tyranski, Nomadic’s other Founder and Brewmaster.
But the team didn’t stop there–the new destination will be a real place of flavor discovery. Featuring rotating taps from other local craft brewmasters, Little City Coffee Roasters and a range of other beverages, it will truly be a celebration of local artistry. And the space is also intended to be a gathering place for other small business owners and change-makers to network and collaborate.
“We’ve been so fortunate to build a network of amazing small business owners who are really carving a space for themselves in Austin. There is so much amazing creative talent and raw hustle here, we hope lots of those folks can come to our space and collaborate and share their experiences and ideas”, said Raf Robinson of SLAB.
Doors to the public will be opening on October 19th!
The primarily outdoor setting (with indoor air-conditioned seating also available), will have that backyard party vibe with lots of tree shade and picnic tables for big and small groups alike. Guests can also expect new events and entertainment to be hosted there; everything from musical acts, to community garden gatherings, to art shows, and other irreverent performances. People will come for the great BBQ, unique craft beer, and all-new Cocktail menu offered by Nomadic.
